Hanging Dry Photo Exhibit – Chicago Oct. 29th

My cousin, Mark Corece, whose space I have been occupying here in Chicago for the past month or so, has been working incredibly hard on his photo exhibit which will be held on October 29th at the Digital Hydra Gallery. So if you’re in the Chicago please check it out. Below you can read more about the exhibit.

Hanging Dry is a black and white photo exhibit that aims to display the symmetry of the Puerto Rican and black existence. Although their relationship often goes unexamined, the artist aims to highlight their cultural and political movements throughout the 20th century, which not only run parallel, but dip, rise, and converge on the horizon. In a contemporary context, consider those who brought to life the guayabera, dashiki, or draped white dress; do the clothespins and ropes lead to more than physical connections? This multi-city exhibit also serves as the visual inspiration of the upcoming feature-length documentary, Freedom of Identity, a film which explores the pluralism within Puerto Rican Identities while connecting the past with the present.
